Stolas is the name of the spirit referenced in the Grimoire these days best known as The Lesser Key of Solomon.
Stolas is "a Great Prince of Hell, commands twenty-six legions of demons. He teaches astronomy and is knowledgeable about herbs, plants, precious stones, astronomy. He is often depicted as a raven or a crowned owl with long legs."
The Lesser Key of Solomon, also known as Lemegeton Clavicula Salomonis or simply Lemegeton, is an anonymous grimoire on demonology. It was compiled in the mid-17th century, mostly from materials a couple of centuries older. It is divided into five books—the Ars Goetia, Ars Theurgia-Goetia, Ars Paulina, Ars Almadel, and Ars Notoria. The Latin term goetia refers to the evocation of demons or spirits. It is derived from the Ancient Greek word γοητεία (goēteía) meaning “charm” "witchcraft" or "jugglery.
INTENTIONS: Seeking Stolas' instruction or guidance in matters pertaining to herbalism, gemology, astronomy | Spirit summoning | Offertory purposes | Communion with the spirit | Invocation & Evocation | Goetic workings
Please note that spirit (same goes for necromantic conjurations and any "outside help") summoning workings require in its vast majority following particular rules and procedures pertaining to overcoming your fear, respectful but firm treatment of the spirit, suitable offerings, proper opening and (very important!) proper closing of the magical circle of operation and associated "license to depart", in addition to proper protocols of cleansing if possession or any possible similar influence is not your intent. If outside spirit help on your petition is sought and you are new to this kind of practice I strongly recommend you research and follow these practices prior, during and after your conjuration rituals (it concerns using ouija boards especially). Ars Goetia also references the concepts of magical circle and triangle, magical objects/symbols used in the evocation of the seventy-two spirits of this Grimoire.
TRADITION: Anointing practice is a powerful charm and in itself one of the most ancient forms of ritual working which predates the written history. Their use to introduce a divine influence or presence is recorded from the earliest times; anointing was also used as a form of medicine, thought to rid persons and things of dangerous spirits and demons which were believed to cause disease. Anointing served and serves some distinct purposes: it is regarded as a means of health and comfort, as a token of honor, and as a symbol of consecration. Anointing was also understood to "seal in" goodness (or intention) and resist corruption, and to impart the spirit called forth.
Use of the magical oils is not limited to provided examples below as they are versatile enough to serve well for a variety of practices, esoteric currents, and personal preferences.
RITUAL: You can anoint self, fetishes, charms, effigies, ritual tools, candles, sigil and spell papers, using oil for tracing sigils, as well as can be used to anoint offerings, spaces, buildings and can be used as an offering itself. Anointing oil, applied in faith, is a powerful weapon against a spiritual attack of the enemy. Particular care is taken in such rituals to the direction of the anointing. I invite you to reflect on what direction of anointing is the most suitable for you according to your intentions (from head to foot downwards (most common practice), or vice versa upwards)
It is handcrafted for offertory, devotional, synergistic and sympathetic magic ritual workings; as an anointing ritual for ceremonial work, blessings, sacraments, as well as for more casual use to remind and affirm your intention associated with a particular archetype, deity or nature of your working (divination, enchantment, invocation, evocation) or nature of your intention that may be not limited to be worked on in a solely ritual setting.
